Carlyle W. Hall III

Shareholder
Cary W. Hall focuses his practice on complex litigation, with an emphasis on products liability and insurance coverage matters, and serves as the Chair of the firm’s Products Liability practice group. Mr. Hall handles products liability, mass tort and commercial litigation for major manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, transportation companies, and other businesses. His insurance coverage practice involves counseling and litigation on behalf of corporate policyholders with respect to designing insurance coverage strategies, conducting policy review, advising on policy implications resulting from lawsuits and claims, and breach of contract and bad faith litigation. In addition, he has also advised, counseled, and litigated cases for pharmaceutical companies in products liability and insurance matters arising from clinical trials of investigational drugs.

Prior to joining Polsinelli Shughart in 2009, Mr. Hall was assistant general counsel for U-Haul International, Inc., where he managed products liability, insurance coverage, and commercial litigation for U-Haul and its related companies. From 1997 to 2004, he practiced in the Los Angeles office of Heller Ehrman LLP, where his practice included products liability litigation for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, litigation of first-party claims involving business interruption, third-party claims involving reimbursement of defense and indemnity expenses for catastrophic liabilities and pro bono prosecution of claims by Holocaust survivors against insurance carriers that failed to pay life insurance benefits. Mr. Hall also served as counsel for the lender on the World Trade Center in prosecuting claims for insurance coverage for the towers.

Mr. Hall's combination of in-house counsel and extensive law firm experience makes him particularly adept at understanding the needs of his clients, the pressures brought to bear on in-house legal departments, and the desires of his clients for prompt, cost-effective, and efficient resolution of claims and lawsuits.
