Focusing his insurance practice on business and regulatory matters, Gerry Brenneman has experience in mergers and acquisitions related to insurance companies (including Form A filings and approvals), insurance agencies, third party administrators and blocks of business. With respect to regulatory matters, his background includes compliance issues related to health insurance and the auditing of agents in the field for a national health insurance company. In addition, he has been involved in representing one of the largest national third party administrators as outside general counsel.
Working with his family’s insurance business from an early age has given Mr. Brenneman an extensive knowledge of the insurance industry. Prior to his legal career, he was an insurance underwriter and claims examiner, which has given him the working knowledge to understand, from an inside perspective, the industry and the issues which insurance entities face.
Mr. Brenneman has represented insurance companies and clients on many types of issues, including the purchase and sale of all types of insurance entities, drafting and negotiating insurance contracts and policies, and the resolution of contract disputes between insurance clients and their agents. He has also had extensive experience with third party administrators, including the use of associations and trusts for group health policies.
