Federal Minimum Wage and the Impact on State Minimum Wage Rates
Employers please take note of changes in the federal minimum wage effective July 24th, 2009 that may impact you depending on where your business is located. In order to comply with the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007, the federal minimum wage for non-exempt employees covered under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA") will increase from $6.55 to $7.25 per hour. The impact of this increase on a particular employer will depend, in part, upon the minimum wage laws of the state in which the employer is located.
