Michael M. Tamburini

Mike Tamburini’s practice is focused in the areas of creditors’ rights, corporate bankruptcy, and commercial litigation. He has advised and represented a diverse mix of creditors in complex matters in both federal and state courts across the United States.  Mr. Tamburini is known for his extensive experience in a broad spectrum of sophisticated bankruptcy matters, having represented corporate clients in bankruptcy court in such matters as the confirmation of reorganization plans, relief from the automatic stay, the use of cash collateral, asset purchases, fraudulent transfer proceedings, and other bankruptcy litigation matters.

Midway through his legal career, Mr. Tamburini seized the opportunity to serve for nearly eight years as general counsel as well as other senior level management positions in the complex and heavily regulated industry of health care.  Consequently, Mr. Tamburini brings unique experience and perspective as a business leader and employer to his clients and his practice.  A tenacious advocate, he is also a true business partner to his clients, committed to delivering value and excellent service.

Experience

  • Representation of various secured lenders in single asset real estate cases in a number of bankruptcy courts throughout the United States, including jurisdictions such as the Northern District of Illinois, the Western District of Washington, the Southern District of Iowa, and the Central District of California, involving relief from the automatic stay, contested plan confirmation, use of cash collateral, and other matters
  • Secured 100% recovery of approximately $500,000 in damages sustained by minority shareholder from fraudulent acts of majority shareholder following series of State court appeals which established new points of corporate law in published court opinions
  • Lead debtor’s counsel in orderly Chapter 11 liquidation of publicly held steel processing company, Huntco Inc., whose major creditor was Enron Industrial Markets, Inc.
  • Member of senior team responsible for directing the ultimate liquidation of a publicly held building materials and home improvement chain, Payless Cashways, Inc., liquidating over 110 commercial properties throughout the United States
  • Restructured department lines of reporting and work group relationships in multi-specialty medical practice of over 220 employees which increased work flow efficiencies and more effectively aligned departmental and individual activities with organization’s financial goals
