Less than a year after opening a Dallas office, national law firm Polsinelli Shughart expands services in Texas with the addition of employee benefits law attorney Josephine Stewart Harvey. Harvey focuses primarily on ERISA matters including qualified retirement plan compliance and correction, including employee benefit issues involved with mergers and acquisitions. She joins a deep bench of employment law attorneys in Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City and St. Louis, and will practice with her former colleague Henry Talavera, who joined Polsinelli Shughart in April.

“The firm is attracting highly qualified and sophisticated attorneys, and I look forward to collaborating with these practitioners and growing my practice. I’m very excited to be here,” said Harvey.

Harvey counsels clients on a broad range of employment law matters involving Title I, II and IV of ERISA and the internal revenue code for public and non-public businesses, tax exempt organizations and governmental units. She also amends, restates and terminates defined benefit and defined contribution plans, and designs and implements qualified plan corrections under governmental correction programs, including the Internal Revenue Service's Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System and the Department of Labor's Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program and Delinquent Filer Voluntary Compliance Program. Harvey earned her law degree from Georgetown University, cum laude in 2003, and earned her bachelor of arts, summa cum laude, from Texas A&M University in 2000. She was selected for inclusion in “Texas Rising Star,” Texas Monthly, 2006-2011.

The Dallas office relocated to Saint Ann Court in March after opening an office last year. The Dallas office originated with three attorneys bringing corporate, health care and private equity capabilities to the firm in Texas. The firm’s office in Saint Ann Court has accommodations for 38 attorneys and staff. Currently there are eleven attorneys.

While the addition of a Dallas office is new for the firm, Polsinelli Shughart has a prior Texas connection. Former Dallas Congressman Martin Frost is a shareholder in the Washington, D.C. office of Polsinelli Shughart. Frost represented the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in the U.S. House of Representatives for 26 years (1979-2005) prior to joining the firm. During his time in Congress, Frost served as chairman of the House Democratic Caucus (the third ranking leadership position for House Democrats) and was dean of the Texas delegation in his last several terms in Congress.
