Polsinelli Shughart welcomes attorney Susan F. Klein to the firm as a senior partner where she will practice international tax law. She focuses her practice on taxation and international private transactions, as well as private equity and mergers and acquisitions. She previously practiced at the New York City office of a large international law firm.

“I was immediately attracted to Polsinelli Shughart’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellent client service,” said Klein. “I look forward to building a practice in Chicago and introducing my existing clients to the vast and vibrant resources Polsinelli Shughart can offer from coast to coast. It’s a very exciting time to be in Chicago.”

Klein’s clients include U.S. and foreign-based multi-national groups. She brings extensive experience representing foreign nationals and corporations with U.S. investments. She has counseled foreign banks and off-shore funds and has advised with respect to cross-border merger and acquisition transactions.

“We are very excited to have an attorney of Susan’s caliber join our firm,” said Chicago Managing Director Anthony J. Nasharr. “There are very few international tax attorneys with her level of sophistication and knowledge in the Chicagoland area.”

Klein writes and lectures extensively on taxation and international private transactions. She is a past author of a bi-monthly Leading Practitioner Commentary for Tax Management International Journal. She has presented papers before the American Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the International Bar Association, the International Fiscal Association, the New York University Tax Institute, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the George Washington University/IRS Institute on International Taxation and the Practicing Law Institute.

In addition to private practice, Klein has served on the faculties of Emory University School of Law and Boston University School of Law, where she taught taxation and international law.

Klein earned her law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and her B.S. from Cornell University. She is currently licensed in New York only. Her admission to the Illinois Bar is pending.
