National law firm Polsinelli announced it has renewed and expanded its commitment to the entrepreneurial community in the St. Louis region by signing a four-year sponsorship agreement with the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. The agreement, which begins in 2014 and runs through 2018, is valued at $140,000 and includes both cash and in-kind support. Polsinelli has supported the Skandalaris Center for more than a decade.

“This commitment is simply the latest chapter in Polsinelli’s long history of supporting the programming of the Skandalaris Center and the firm’s unrivaled backing of the entrepreneurial community in the St. Louis region,” Ken Harrington, managing director of the Skandalaris Center said. “The business acumen and strategic knowledge our participants will gain from Polsinelli’s participation is immeasurable. It will certainly be a key asset in helping these entrepreneurs cultivate their ventures from ideas into flourishing companies.”

As part of the agreement, Polsinelli will be recognized as the exclusive top tier legal industry sponsor and one of three top tier sponsors of the Olin Cup and YouthBridge Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition (SEIC), the Skandalaris Skills Series and IdeaBounce events, and Coffee with the Experts. In addition, the firm will provide in-kind legal services to Olin Cup and SEIC competition participants.

Founded in 2003, the Skandalaris Center is Washington University’s hub for entrepreneurial activity. Besides its curriculum, Skandalaris also runs two business plan competitions, the Olin Cup and the YouthBridge Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition. Other activities include an internship program, frequent IdeaBounce workshops and a fellowship program. Polsinelli has sponsored the Olin Cup business plan competition for more than a decade. The competition began at Washington University in St. Louis in 1988 and is now recognized as one of the finest entrepreneurship competitions in the country.
