The Springfield Business Journal selected Polsinelli Shughart PC attorney Jennifer R. Growcock as a member of its 2011 class of “40 Under 40” nominees. The business paper chooses nominees based on their outstanding professional accomplishments and civic involvement. Growcock, and the other nominees, will be honored at the Ramada Oasis Convention Center in Springfield, May 19 at 5:30 p.m.
“To be recognized as a person who strives to make a difference in Springfield is deeply rewarding,” said Growcock. “I don’t volunteer to receive awards but when it happens, it is flattering. I’m honored to be with this group of young professionals impacting Springfield.”
Growcock practices law in the areas of commercial, business, construction and real estate litigation. As a young associate practicing for a large national firm, Growcock has gained the attention of senior partners, having been the lead and co-counsel in complex matters before judges and juries. She has achieved favorable settlements of lawsuits on hundreds of cases. This young attorney has even gained appellate experience, having successfully argued in the Missouri Court of Appeals. Springfield Managing Partner Tom O’Neal says “Jennifer has advanced legal skills for such a young attorney. She is able to balance the aggressiveness needed to be a trial attorney but she is not offensive to juries.”
Her legal leadership role is extended to Springfield-area children. This year, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Southwest Missouri selected her as a member of the board of directors for a three-year term. In this position, Growcock is able to combine her two passions: children and law. Southern Missouri holds the state’s highest childhood abuse and neglect rate and Growcock is able to help make a difference in the lives of hundreds of young children by “giving them a voice in the legal system.”
An additional civic leadership role for Growcock is with the Junior League of Springfield. She has been an active member since 2005 having served as a member of the board of directors. This year, the Junior League selected her to the Nominating Committee which is tasked with gathering the “slate” of officers for the upcoming year. This young leader is in the business of selecting other young leaders for dominant roles in this important organization in existence for more than 50 years in Springfield. Growcock has chaired the Public Affairs committee. In this role, she organized and led members of the Junior League to Jefferson City to “lobby” for funding for Isabel's House and the continuation of tax credits for charitable donors.
Congratulations to our colleague Jennifer Growcock.
