Paula Kim concentrates her practice in the areas of general and complex business and commercial litigation. Ms. Kim has represented both publicly traded and privately held businesses, individual officers and directors, and entrepreneurs, among others, in a broad range of enterprises including the banking and financial, health, energy, insurance, manufacturing, and professional services industries.
Ms. Kim has a wide range of litigation experience in disputes involving securities and securities fraud, contract disputes, fraud and business torts, officer and director liability, corporate governance, real estate and property rights, trust and estates, class action defense, constitutional law, and claims for injunctive relief such as temporary restraining orders.
Ms. Kim has represented clients in both trial and appellate courts. She has won and successfully defended appeals in both state and federal courts in the areas of professional negligence, trusts and estates, business torts, and contract disputes. Most recently, Ms. Kim won an appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in the area of immigration and constitutional law.
Beyond her usual areas of practice, Ms. Kim is also committed to public service through extensive pro bono work in the areas of immigration law, housing discrimination, and family law. She won political asylum for a client from Africa, successfully appealed a prisoner’s rights case, and successfully argued before the Chief Judge of the Seventh Circuit in a case involving procedural due process.
