Polsinelli Shughart PC welcomes Susan Henderson Moore to the firm’s Public Policy practice in the Business department. She brings seven years of legislative drafting experience working as a staff attorney and assistant director for the Missouri Senate Division of Research. Henderson Moore will practice in the Jefferson City office.
“I’m very excited to join Polsinelli Shughart’s strong and nationally recognized Public Policy practice,” Henderson Moore said. “Public policy work within a law firm will be a new role for me, but I’m remaining in a very familiar environment – Missouri’s state government.”
Prior to joining Polsinelli Shughart, Henderson Moore served in the nonpartisan Missouri Senate Division of Research, advising and drafting legislation for all 34 senators of both parties. During past legislative sessions, she was responsible for drafting and maintaining approximately 100 bills from initial drafts to final passage or failure.
“The senators essentially were my clients. I researched and analyzed legislative proposals, prepared legal opinions and developed policy alternatives for the senators,” Henderson Moore said. “This allowed me to develop some very positive working relationships, not only with the legislators but also with the legislative staff throughout the capital.”
As part of her job at the Senate Division of Research, Henderson Moore also staffed the Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, as well as the Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government Committee. She was involved with drafting significant legislation regarding eminent domain, political subdivisions and criminal law.
Henderson Moore is a member of The Missouri Bar, serves on a number of its committees and is participating in the Missouri Bar Leadership Academy. She earned her J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003 and her B.A. degree in history from Truman State University.
