Polsinelli Shughart PC welcomes attorney Matthew S. Layfield to the firm as an associate in the Financial Services department where he will focus on creditors rights, loan enforcement and creditor bankruptcy representation. Layfield brings experience prosecuting and defending clients in both state and federal courts, including representation in multiple bankruptcy districts.

Polsinelli Shughart’s Financial Services department stretches from New York City to Phoenix with a strong presence in the Midwest. Layfield will assist clients with a variety of financial services matters including commercial enforcement and workout actions ranging from commercial buildings to real property actions. He has also has represented clients’ in bankruptcy litigation and motion practice defending secured and unsecured creditor rights and conducting evidentiary hearings.
Layfield earned his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2005. He earned a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Iowa in 2002.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Layfield holds court admissions to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri, the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas.
