Machen as shareholder to the firm’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring practice in the Financial Services department. Prior to joining Polsinelli Shughart, Machen practiced at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP in Chicago.
Machen focuses her practice primarily on issues arising from Chapter 11 bankruptcies. During her legal career, she has had the opportunity to counsel a wide array of clients across a broad span of industries, including real estate, banking and finance, automotive, manufacturing and retail. Machen has counseled debtors, statutory committees, secured lenders, banks, unsecured creditors, equipment lessors, franchisors, asset purchasers in 363 sales, landlords and pro bono organizations.
“Monika’s broad understanding of insolvency issues, including her work experience with the Federal Bankruptcy Court, enables her to knowledgably counsel clients during times of financial distress, and assist them through the complexities of the Bankruptcy Code,” said Managing Director/Chicago Anthony J. Machen received her J.D. degree in 2000 from the University of Michigan Law School, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Asian American Bar Association, the Turnaround Management Association and the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation. Machen also has served as a law clerk to the Honorable George L. Proctor, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.
