Polsinelli Shughart PC expands its Financial Services department with the addition of attorneys Peter W. Ito and Ross A.Hoogerhyde. The pair brings bankruptcy and business restructuring experience to the firm’s Denver office and national practice. Ito joins the firm as a shareholder, and Hoogerhyde joins as an associate. Both practiced in the Denver office of Gordon & Rees before joining Polsinelli Shughart.
Ito and Hoogerhyde are part of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Law practice group, which assists clients in a broad range of industries with loan workouts, Chapter 11 reorganizations and out-of-court restructurings, among other services.
“Our bankruptcy and financial restructuring practice continues to be a strong area of growth for our firm nationally, and we’re pleased to expand these services in our Denver office,” said Daniel J. Flanigan, chair of the Financial Services and Real Estate departments.
Ito carries more than 20 years of experience in bankruptcy law encompassing a variety of industries including oil and gas, real estate, finance, manufacturing, transportation and destination resort clubs. He served as lead counsel for creditors’ committees in several notable bankruptcy cases, including two of the largest bankruptcies of subprime home loan lenders in U.S. history. Ito earned his law degree from the Washington University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado.
Hoogerhyde has broad bankruptcy experience, representing clients in Chapter 11 and state dissolution proceedings. Hoogerhyde earned his law degree from Michigan State University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in corporate finance from Western Michigan University.
In the past year, Polsinelli Shughart’s Denver office added eight new attorneys in practice areas including intellectual property, science and technology, labor and employment and life sciences.
