Polsinelli Shughart PC welcomes attorney John A. Leja as shareholder to the firm’s expanding Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation, and Commercial and Business Litigation practices in the Trial department. Leja brings the firm a wide range of IP experience, having served as lead counsel in mediations, arbitrations and trials over a variety of enforcement and litigation issues.

Leja has represented corporations and individuals in matters involving intellectual property and complex commercial litigation in courts throughout the country, including preliminary injunction hearings, claim construction, summary judgment and trial. He also has counseled numerous companies and major manufacturers concerning patent and copyright litigation, unfair competition, intellectual property licensing, risk management, product liability, consumer transactions and negotiation strategy.

Leja earned his J.D. degree from Cornell University in 1998 and a bachelor of science degree at Purdue University in 1997. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Leja also serves on the advisory board of Northwestern University School of Law’s Bluhm Legal Clinic’s Center on Wrongful Convictions.
Leja was recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer “Rising Star,” by Law & Politics, 2009. Prior to joining Polsinelli Shughart, he served as partner at the Chicago firm McGuireWoods LLP.
