Two Polsinelli Shughart PC lawyers contributed to a comprehensive how-to manual and resource guide for nonprofits. Nonprofit Management 101 features practical insights and easy to implement solutions for organizations seeking to meet mission goals and maximize the impact of their organizations. Recognized nonprofit lawyers Bruce R. Hopkins and Virginia C. Gross authored the chapter on nonprofit law.

The former Executive Director of Craigslist Foundation, Darian Rodriguez Heyman, brought together the authors to create a newly released manual he calls “your compass for the social sector.”

Hopkins is considered a leading authority on nonprofit law and tax issues, and is a frequent source for journalists. He works with nonprofits to establish and qualify for tax exemption and to establish and operate charitable and fundraising programs.
Hopkins’ clients include charitable and educational organizations, associations, colleges, universities, hospitals, other health care providers, religious organizations, business and professional associations, and private foundations. Many nonprofit organizations retain. Hopkins as general counsel; others use his services as special tax and/or fundraising counsel.
Highly recognized in his field, Hopkins is the 2007 Recipient of the Outstanding Nonprofit Lawyer – Vanguard/Lifetime Achievement Award, American Bar Association, Nonprofit Corporations Committee. Gross concentrates on tax matters and nonprofit organizations law regarding their structure, operations, fundraising, unrelated business income planning, and joint venturing and partnering. She counsels many nonprofit boards of directors on governance matters. Gross and Hopkins have co-authored three books. Recognized in her field, she was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, 2008-present, Nonprofit Organizations/Charities Law. Gross is also involved as a volunteer with several nonprofits. She is currently on the National Board of Trustees for Camp Fire USA, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Council on Philanthropy and the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation.
