The Environmental Professionals of Arizona (EPAZ) elected Polsinelli Shughart’s Michael C. Ford as president of its board of directors for a one year term effective immediately. Ford is a shareholder who practices environmental and natural resources law. For more than 15 years, he has advised industrial and commercial entities on regulatory compliance, enforcement defense, and transactional risk mitigation issues stemming from local, state and federal environmental laws and workplace safety laws.
“I’m really excited to take a new leadership role with EPAZ,” said Ford. “It is a great organization with an impressive history, and I look forward to making it an even stronger presence in the environmental professional community here in the Valley and the entire state.”
The Environmental Professionals of Arizona (EPAZ) was formed in 1986. Its mission includes promoting cooperation and communication between business and the government on environmental issues, and sponsoring educational, outreach and mentoring activities and events focused on regulatory compliance and pollution prevention. Ford has been an active member of EPAZ for the last eight years. As president, Ford’s goals include enhancing EPAZ’s community service efforts, and growing the groups relationship with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
EPAZ hosts the Annual Gatekeeper Regulatory Roundup, which focuses on environmental issues impacting Arizona businesses, and works to provide scholarships to students studying environment issues.
Ford is also actively involved in the Arizona Mining Association, Arizona Manufacturers Council and the Association of Hazardous Materials Professionals. He is an excellent source for reporters working on stories about environmental regulations at the local, state or federal level.
