Pro Bono
Polsinelli Shughart PC is deeply committed to providing legal services to clients and causes that cannot afford them. Every year, our firm gives several thousands of hours in legal and support resources on a pro bono basis.
The firm voluntarily represents individuals and nonprofit organizations that cannot otherwise afford legal services. We also accept court-appointed assignments on behalf of indigent clients in the areas of child abuse and neglect, family disputes, and some types of criminal law.
We also are active participants and contributors to the legal Legal Aid of Western, Eastern and Southern Missouri, as well as the Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado. Our firm has been formally recognized by the Colorado Supreme Court from 2006 to 2008 for our participation in its Pro Bono Legal Services Commitment and Recognition Program, and we received a recognition plaque from The Faculty of Federal Advocates in 2007 for our participation in its Counsel/Co-Counsel Program representing indigent parties in litigation in the United States District Court. We also are a member and supporter of the Colorado Lawyers Committee which forms task forces to address public interest issues involving the poor and the disadvantaged and handles related litigation.
The firm employs full-time pro bono attorneys to provide representation in a variety of civil and criminal cases. In addition, many of our attorneys donate a portion of their time to pro bono activities for individuals, and non-for-profit and charitable organizations. Up to 50 hours of work an attorney performs on approved pro bono projects are counted toward his/her hourly goals for the year.
We take pride in helping the community.
