Elton Dean’s natural curiosity and desire to figure out how things work make him invaluable to clients who develop inventions.
His thirst for knowledge led him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then to law school.
As an intellectual property attorney at Polsinelli, Elton enjoys the opportunity to work with a variety of clients ranging from garage inventors and technology startups to universities and Fortune 500 companies.
He works on all aspects of the inventive process from patentability searches to prosecuting international patent applications.
Elton helps clients assess the risks of patent infringement and provides invaluable technical insight to investigate and prepare legal opinions regarding a client’s freedom to operate in crowded technology areas. In addition, he and his colleagues develop effective solutions to address the risks, including responding to demand letters, designing around patents, assessing the validity of patents, and obtaining patent licenses.
In addition to patent prosecution, Elton practices in a variety of other intellectual property areas, including trademark prosecution, copyrights, licensing, litigation support, and transactional due diligence. He also provides guidance on overall intellectual property strategies. In his trademark practice, Elton assists clients with trademark searches and clearance decisions as well as preparing trademark applications.
