Lisa Weixelman understands that insurance is an absolute necessity in today’s world, but can also be quite complicated at times. Lisa combines her broad background in civil litigation with her in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry to help clients resolve tough insurance issues ranging from risk assessment, contract and policy negotiations, and coverage analysis to claims presentation and litigation. Recognized as a leading lawyer in insurance, Lisa represents both members of the insurance industry and policy holders. Her litigation practice focuses on coverage and insurance-related disputes.   • Assisted real estate developer in locating insurance policies for a long-term exposure and securing the insurers' agreement to defend and indemnify.
  • Worked with education institution to file claim and secure recovery on an employee theft policy for multimillion dollar loss. Resolved disputes with D&O insurer regarding coverage and allocation of defense expenses.
  • Represented large commercial property owner in a lawsuit against its insurer for breach of contract when the insurer declined to pay a million dollar property loss claim for snow and ice damage to the building roof.
  • Successfully negotiated resolution of third-party claim against client for large fire loss, with insurer agreeing to pay settlement and dismiss declaratory judgment action.
  • Prosecuted claim against insurance broker by client for negligent advice regardinginsurance procurement. Case resolved with broker agreeing to indemnify client for the uninsured loss.
  • Defended insurance company against subpoena seeking production of confidentialand business sensitive records for the company and its insured.
  • Defended insurance company on claims by a large self-insured program for aggregate and specific excess claims.
  • Assisted clients in securing defense and indemnification of claim for breach of duty by bank customers.
  • Worked with real estate developer to negotiate settlement of lawsuit involving more than 100 property owners for construction defects in homes. Insurance companies denied coverage. In the settlement agreement, plaintiffs agreed to limitrecovery to insurance proceeds.
  • Provided comprehensive review of claims and insurance, drafted indemnity and insurance provisions in agreement, and recommended appropriate insurance for health care provider.
  • Worked with team to revise and update liability insurance policies for insurance company.
  • Worked with retailer to draft and implement company and employee policies for store risk management.
