On June 30, 2011, the federal agency that administers federal construction projects began routine verification of contractors' and subcontractors' implementation of the required federal Contractor Code of Business Ethics and Conduct program. Federal contractors or those clients attempting to secure government contracts need to be aware of this and take action immediately.
According to the federal government's policy, contractors should have:
- a written code of business ethics and conduct;
- an employee business ethics and compliance training program; and
- an internal control system that promotes compliance with the code of business ethics and conduct.
