Bill Mahood is Chair of Polsinelli Shughart’s Corporate Finance practice group and is a senior member of its Mergers & Acquisitions practice. His primary practice areas include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity financings and private investment fund formations.
Mr. Mahood regularly represents leading Kansas City companies in a broad variety of acquisition, divestiture and joint venture transactions. For over 12 years, he has represented Sprint Nextel Corporation in the divestiture of a number of its businesses, including in the areas of airport wi-fi, prepaid card, conferencing and dial-up Internet. In addition, he has represented Mariner Wealth Advisors in the acquisition of a number of its affiliates, including Tortoise Capital Advisors, Mariner Quantitative Solutions, and Palmer Square Capital Management. Chambers USA, the world’s leading guide to the legal profession, has written: “There is no shortage of praise for Mr. Mahood’s immense knowledge of acquisitions and divestitures.”
He has substantial experience in Kansas, Missouri and Delaware organizational law and governance. In this capacity, he regularly advises clients on complex entity formations and the impact of the local law on debt and equity securities issuances, significant corporate transactions, and the inter-relationship among owners, managers and agents. Utilizing this experience, Bill serves as Sprint Nextel Corporation’s Kansas corporate counsel.
He has managerial and supervisory responsibility for more than 25 attorneys who serve our clients in the entire range of corporate finance activities, including state and federal securities law compliance, private and public equity and debt offerings, and venture capital, private equity, and hedge fund formations and transactions.
Mr. Mahood is a problem solver for his clients. When their needs are outside his area of expertise, he serves as an ambassador to the firm’s other attorneys and practice groups, ensuring his clients receive the services they need – from litigation, to labor and employment, to intellectual property and any of the other more than 50 Polsinelli Shughart practice areas.
