Yu Cai is an associate in the firm's Science and Technology practice group. She focuses her practice on representing entities in the life sciences and technology industries, including universities and research institutes, pertaining to transactions affecting various intellectual property rights. Her practice also includes patent procurement, counseling, planning and patent portfolio management. Yu Cai has actively assisted the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) with various intellectual property related matters.
Prior to entering law school, Yu Cai earned her Ph.D. in Plant Sciences and Genetics from the University of Arizona. She also has a Master's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. Yu Cai's extensive research experience includes epigenetic gene silencing, genetic mapping, genome sequencing, gene cloning, gene mutation, transgenic plants, plant physiology, plant signal transduction, plant secondary metabolism and plant stress tolerance.
