Babak helps companies build, protect and leverage intellectual property to strengthen their competitive position and support business growth. He advises clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations on patent strategy, portfolio development, IP monetization, intellectual property due diligence and IP issues that arise in relationships with business partners, investors, customers and joint development counterparties.

Babak’s practice centers on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in advanced electrical, software and communications technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies and applications associated therewith, wireless and cellular systems, multimedia and signal processing, semiconductor devices and memories, network security, cryptography and fintech. He works closely with clients to align patent strategy with market position, product roadmaps and broader business objectives.

In addition to patent prosecution, Babak advises on patent portfolio analysis, strategic partnerships, licensing, enforcement strategy and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reviews. He focuses on helping clients use intellectual property not only as a protective tool but also as a strategic asset in financing, collaboration, commercialization and growth.
