Revised LMA secondary debt trading documents go live on 3 March

David Karp, Co-Head of Special Situations & Alternative Investments, discusses the Loan Market Association’s “plainer English” project, which revises secondary debt trading documents to make them more user-friendly while maintaining existing legal concepts. The updates aim to improve clarity, consistency and usability across standard terms and related documentation, helping market participants better navigate complex secondary loan transactions. While the changes are not intended to alter substantive rights, they are designed to reduce ambiguity, enhance efficiency and align documentation more closely with current market practices.
