Polsinelli Bolsters Tax Credit Finance Platform with Charleston Shareholder Jason Walton

Polsinelli is pleased to announce that Jason P. Walton has joined the firm as a shareholder in the Tax Credit Finance Practice in Charleston. Walton brings more than two decades of experience advising clients on renewable energy transactions and tax credit investments, further complementing the firm’s leading Energy and Data Center & Infrastructure practices, which recently grew with new Shareholders Carl Steen, Bob Nelson and David Rubenstein on the West Coast.

“Jason is widely respected for his work structuring tax credit strategies that support complex energy projects and his experience with these sophisticated transactions makes him a strong addition to the firm,” said Chase Simmons, Chairman and CEO of Polsinelli. “His arrival, alongside our continued investment in energy and data center capabilities over the last year, reflects the expansion of our platform and strengthens our ability to support clients pursuing large-scale, infrastructure-driven initiatives.”

Walton advises developers, investors and sponsors on transactions that support the construction and financing of renewable energy projects generating tax credits, with a focus on both near-term tax efficiency and long-term project success. He regularly structures and closes transactions designed to generate federal and state tax credits, guiding clients through the full lifecycle of tax credit investments, from deal formation through capital deployment.

“Jason has spent decades advising developers, investors and sponsors on tax credit transactions with an emphasis on renewables,” said S. Shawn Whitney, Chair of Polsinelli’s Tax Credit Finance Practice. “His ability to structure and execute across the full lifecycle of a project further expands our team and enhances the resources we bring to clients looking for innovative tax credit and financing strategies.”

In addition to tax credit transactions, Walton advises on the tax aspects of project development and financing structures across a broad range of energy and infrastructure projects.

“Polsinelli has built a tax credit finance platform that is both deeply experienced and highly integrated with its energy and infrastructure capabilities,” Walton said. “The firm’s collaborative culture and national reach, combined with its strategic investment in renewable energy, data centers and large-scale infrastructure, create a powerful environment for helping clients navigate increasingly complex tax credit and financing structures. I’m excited to join a team that is so clearly focused on innovation, growth and delivering practical results for clients.”
