Included in the recently enacted “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act” (the “Stimulus Package”) are a number of important requirements and opportunities for employers. The focus of this alert is related to an item of most urgency, the COBRA subsidy provisions, which become effective March 1, 2009. Additional newsletters and alert articles will be provided in the coming weeks related to some of the other employer-related programs that are also part of the Stimulus Package.
