Pro Tips for Handling Medicare Payment and Enrollment Audits, Investigations and Appeals

With ever-changing and complicated federal and state reimbursement mechanisms, the significant increase in third-party auditors, and the possibility of False Claims Act liability for the retention of overpayments, rural health care providers need to stay abreast of the rules around audits and identification of overpayments. This session will discuss strategies for handling contractor audits and appeals, including Medicaid related audits, examples of situations that may give rise to self-identification of a federal or state health care program overpayment, discuss strategies for internal investigation and resolution and will review various types of external audits.
