Speaker Announcement: Bitcoin - The Future of Money

World Knowledge Forum | October 18, 2017 | Seoul, Korea

Polsinelli is proud to announce that Richard B. Levin, the Chair of the firm's FinTech and Regulation practice, will be a featured speaker at the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul, Korea. The theme of the three-day event is "Inflection Point: Towards New Prosperity," and focuses on the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology as the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" (4IR). The forum brings together international speakers from politics, economics, science and technology. The keynote speaker for the conference is former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Digital currencies such as bitcoin and ether have emerged as innovative technologies that enable people to exchange and deliver value without using traditional legal tender or mediums of exchange that are administered by central banks.

The speakers will address concerns about the volatility of digital currencies, the bubble in the value of digital currencies, taxation of digital currencies, the relations to monetary policy, money laundering, and identity verification, and possible solutions to these issues.

In order to promote new digital innovations, experienced industry professionals will need to understand the changes that are expected to be made in terms of regulations for financial stability and consumer protection.
