The Huffington Post and other national publications recently reported that a number of prominent Republicans have filed friend of the court briefs in the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in support of challenges to same sex marriage bans in four states.

A team of lawyers from Polsinelli recently submitted a series of amicus curiae briefs on behalf of prominent Republicans urging the court to affirm decisions of federal district courts in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky that found that the same sex marriage bans in those states violated the federal constitution. Sean Gallagher served as lead counsel, and was assisted by Stacy Carpenter, Ben Cohen and Jon Dedon. These briefs follow earlier friend of the court briefs submitted by the same Polsinelli team in two cases pending in the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.
