In 2013, the Pew Research Center reported that 56 percent of Americans owned a smartphone and 43 percent of adults older than 16 owned a tablet. What does that mean for exempt and nonexempt employees using their mobile device when they are not in the office?

Reporter Brian Horn of The Springfield Business Journal interviewed Labor and Employment ShareholderJay Dade about the issue. Jay told the reporter that "bring your own device" is a gray area and employers should have clear-cut policies.
