Former Texas Rangers field manager Ron Washington's public statement Thursday afternoon citing his mistake in being "untrue" to his wife of 42 years as the reason he left the team earlier this month was a win of sorts for the much-scrutinized baseball club.

"The club didn't win by Washington's resignation; he would have likely remained the manager of the ball club through 2015," Steve Fox, an equity shareholder at Polsinelli's Dallas office, told the Dallas Business Journal."Washington coming clean and going public was a public relations win for the Rangers.''
