Congratulations to Karen R. Glickstein
, a shareholder in the Labor and Employment practice at national law firm Polsinelli, selected to receive the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) Mary Massaron Award for the Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession. The award was given during DRI’s Women in the Law Committee Seminar on Feb. 26 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The Mary Massaron Award was created for an individual who stands as an innovator and role model and has made significant efforts to advance women in the legal profession. Recipients are DRI members who have demonstrated a high regard for diversity and a commitment to advocating the inclusion and promotion of women, fostering women's initiatives and actively promoting mentoring relationships with other women in the legal profession.
“We don’t volunteer to receive recognition but when it happens, it is deeply rewarding,” said Glickstein from her Kansas City office. “I’m honored to earn this award personally and also because our firm is committed to the advancement of women in law.”
Glickstein recently concluded her three-year term as a member of DRI’s National Board of Directors from 2011-2014. She has been a DRI member since 1992 and actively serves on the Missouri Supreme Court’s Civil Rules Committee, in addition to more than a dozen other legal distinctions and affiliations. An eight-time nominee for The Best Lawyers in America
, Glickstein is one of eight attorneys appointed by the Missouri Bar to a 16-member joint commission on women in the legal profession. She was also selected for inclusion every year from 2005-2013 by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers
, an organization which also ranked her among its 50 top female attorneys.
“I love the opportunity to collaborate with others, whether it is with attorneys at Polsinelli, my colleagues from the defense employment bar and DRI connections, or especially with my clients to find a solution to an issue or a strategy for trial,” Glickstein said. “I truly believe that the more cooks who are in the kitchen or opinions that are sought, the better the work product or the final decision is.”
At Polsinelli, Glickstein focuses her practice on assisting employers with various human resources and employment law issues, assisting a variety of clients in health care, agriculture and retail sectors in regard to their employment law needs.
DRI is the nation’s leading organization of defense attorneys and in-house counsel, whose membership provides access to resources and tools for attorneys who strive to provide balanced and excellent service to their clients and corporations.
