Polsinelli Shughart PC welcomes attorney Robert E. Entin as an associate in the firm’s Trial department where he will practice in the Labor and Employment practice group. Entin brings a unique perspective to the firm, having previously practiced for nine years as in-house counsel for Operating Engineers, Local 150 in the Chicago suburbs, which represents more than 15 industries, including Public Works.

“Labor law is truly dynamic. Because the law is fluid and changing every few years, it can be rewarding and frustrating, yet appealing at the same time. I appreciate that Local 150 gave me an opportunity to understand the motivations of unions and why they do what they do for their members,” said Entin, who is a Chicago area native. “I was looking for a new challenge, an opportunity to expand on what I’ve learned with a completely different client base, and build a practice for the future. I am impressed with the growth of Polsinelli Shughart and its vast resources, in Chicago and nationally. It’s exciting to be here.”

Polsinelli Shughart’s Labor and Employment practice consists of 25 attorneys in Chicago, Denver, and Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis, Missouri. The firm exclusively represents management on labor and employment matters including Fortune 500 corporations and privately owned entrepreneurial firms.
Entin has represented unions in unfair labor practice and representational proceedings before the NLRB, federal and state administrative agencies and at arbitration. He has engaged in full litigation in both state and federal court, including motion practice, all forms of discovery, settlement negotiations, appellate arguments, and post-judgment procedures. Entin also advised officers, organizers and business representatives in organizing campaigns, including strategizing and counseling with picketing issues, and in issues pertaining to existing contracts.

“We’re very excited that Rob has joined our firm,” said Anthony J. Nasharr, managing director of the Chicago office. “Rob has been in the trenches with union organizers and brings valued perspective to the firm. He joins another experienced labor attorney in Chicago, Sang-yul Lee, and together will they will greatly add to the firm’s labor and employment practice.”

Entin earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1999. He earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1996.

Entin is a member of the American Bar Association and the son of Frederic J. Entin, a health care lawyer who practices in the Chicago office of Polsinelli Shughart.

“My father is one of the main reasons I became a lawyer, no doubt,” said the younger Entin. “He rejuvenated his career when he joined Polsinelli Shughart. His renewed enthusiasm for his career was contagious and weighed heavily in my decision to join the firm.”

Entin is a good source for reporters working on stories about:

Strike and picketing issues
Negotiation of collective bargaining agreements
Administrative hearings and high profile arbitrations
