Polsinelli Shughart PC welcomes back Holly A. Streeter-Schaefer to the firm’s Trial department where she will focus on construction litigation matters. Streeter-Schaefer previously practiced at Polsinelli Shughart for five years before joining a large, national construction company as associate counsel. As corporate counsel, she managed, assessed and advised on all legal aspects impacting a major construction company.

“It’s great to be back at the firm,” said Streeter-Schaefer. “Polsinelli Shughart is now a national firm with many resources across the country. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and growing my practice.”

Streeter-Schaefer joins a national construction litigation practice with 24 lawyers located in offices in Denver, Kansas City, Overland Park, Phoenix, Springfield and Washington, D.C. They represent national contractors, design professionals, consultants and owners of construction companies. Many of the attorneys have a background in engineering, architecture or as construction managers. They work on projects at a local, national and international level. Streeter-Schaefer will assist clients with construction defect litigation, obtaining insurance for claims, contract negotiations, mediation and arbitration, and risk management issues.
“When Holly joined the firm, we recognized right away that she had great abilities and talent as a lawyer,” said Roy Bash, chair of the Construction Litigation practice at Polsinelli Shughart. “After working for our client, The Weitz Company, we’re pleased to have her back at Polsinelli Shughart. She will continue to work closely with Weitz on its pending claims and litigation.”

Streeter-Schaefer earned her law degree from Drake University in 2000, with Order of the Coif honors, and earned her B.S. in Construction Engineering, with distinction, from Iowa State University in 1998. She is a member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), having served as past president and director. She is a past member of the Design-Build Institute of America-Mid-American Chapter.

When she’s not assisting clients, Streeter-Schaefer is actively involved in her industry as a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), in Overland Park, Kansas. The CDBG allocates federal funds for low income housing projects.

“I’ve always wanted to be involved in the construction industry,” said Streeter-Schaefer. “Growing up, I wanted to be a construction manager. Then, law school sounded intriguing. The CDBG allows me to combine my two passions; law and construction. I find it very rewarding to help others in this way.”
In addition, Streeter-Schaefer is a volunteer at the Golden Recovery Retrieving Retrievers Rescue Midwest (GRRRR-Midwest).

Streeter-Schaefer writes and speaks frequently on her area of law. She is an excellent source for reporters working on stories about:
• Construction litigation matters
• Contract negotiations
• Mediation and arbitration
