As a healthcare lawyer meeting with physicians, hospitals and employers concerned about health reform, I am continually faced with the perception that health care as we know it will come to an end, physicians will no longer exist in private practice and employers will not be able to keep the self-insured health benefits programs they currently enjoy. Ironically, when I ask them how they perceive health care reform will specifically affect their businesses, the response is usually, "I am not sure, but I know it's only going to be bad." Randal Schultz explores this topic in the November/December 2010 issue of KC MD News. He is the co-vice chair of the Health Care Law Practice Group at Polsinelli Shughart.
