From Inside Counsel

by Amy Stickel

Polsinelli shareholder Roxsen Koch is providing legal counsel for the development of a $300 million, 800-room Hyatt hotel and convention center in downtown Kansas City, Mo.

“The Downtown Kansas City Convention Center Hotel will be a game changer for Kansas City, and I am proud to be the lead counsel to the developer for this project,” Koch told WIPL. “My 25 years of real estate, economic development and public finance experience representing both developers and municipalities was key in negotiating a complex layering of public incentives for this exciting public/private partnership.”

The project is being developed by Burke Swerdling & Associates LLC and KC Hospitality Investors LLC, who will be partners in the project. According to the “Kansas City Star,” the city is helping with financing for the hotel but will cap its obligations at approximately $2 million a year for 25 years.
