Polsinelli energy attorneys Alan Claus Anderson and Luke Hagedorn will present this week at a working group hosted by the United States Energy Association (USEA) in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Podgorica, Montenegro.
The agencies, USEA and USAID, are undertaking a multi-year program to enhance the integration and operation of power markets in southeast Europe. The Electricity Markets Initiative (EMI) will address regional gaps and opportunities in electricity market operations. Polsinelli’s Energy Practice Group has achieved a national presence by representing energy companies, utilities, developers, renewable energy projects, lenders and investors in connection with the acquisition, development, finance and operation of a variety of energy facilities, including oil, gas and electric.
“Our representation at this USEA event demonstrates Polsinelli’s commitment to the growth and development of our Energy Law capabilities and we are pleased to join some of the leading energy companies and professionals across the globe,” Anderson said. “It is an honor for us to play a role as these countries move forward toward collaboration, integration and potential future inclusion in the European Union.”
Anderson and Hagedorn will serve as expert presenters on market-based solutions to renewable energy procurement and the integration of renewable generation. The EMI working group, comprised of transmission and market operators, regulators and regional stakeholders, will work on regional issues through technical support in market integration, renewable energy integration and procurement and system operations.
“This is a great opportunity for our Polsinelli energy team to showcase our expertise in the renewable energy sector at a global level,” Hagedorn said. “This meeting has high significance, as the participating southeast European countries are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding affirming the goals of regional energy coordination, which sets the stage for developing a work plan moving forward.”
