Appointed by Kansas City Mayor Sly James to serve on the American Jazz Museum Board
Polsinelli Shareholder Dan E. Cranshaw accepted an invitation this week by Kansas City Mayor Sly James to serve on the Board of Directors for the American Jazz Museum. The Mayor’s slate of nominees will be presented to the museum’s interim Board of Directors for approval at the next regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 20.
Cranshaw has long served as a strategic partner, board member and volunteer to support organizations dedicated to improving the community, including Cornerstones of Care, Don Bosco Community Centers, Greater Kanas City Chamber of Commerce, Kansas City CARE Clinic, KCMO CDE Capital Community Fund, Swope Community Enterprises, Swope Health Services, Inc., The Salvation Army of Kansas City, and Urban Neighborhood Initiative, to name a few.
In his role on the American Jazz Museum Board of Directors Cranshaw will work to preserve the history of American Jazz music and support the future of live performances in the historic 18th and Vine district. Since 2017, the museum has been addressing a budget crisis.
“Nestled in the museum is a fully-functioning jazz club,” Cranshaw said. “Keeping the music playing alongside exhibits on Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and others is a special opportunity. I am committed to working with this new board to preserve and grow this important community asset.”
In addition to his civic involvement, Cranshaw works with corporate clients and their boards to help defend claims, secure coverage and grow their businesses. He focuses his practice on defending products liability and warranty claims, commercial litigation, risk management, insurance recovery and toxic tort litigation. He has been involved in class actions in state and federal courts across the United States, and has successfully dealt with all aspects of class action litigation, including pre-certification dismissals and summary judgments, class discovery, class certification and de-certification and claims administration.
