The Denver Business Journal has named Ghislaine Torres Bruner, a shareholder at Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli, to its “2018 Who’s Who in Energy” list.
The eighth-annual list recognizes key players in the energy industry from multiple sectors including legal, accounting, finance, oil and gas, utilities, midstream, education, and more. Torres Bruner had been previously recognized on the “Who’s Who in Energy” list and earlier this year was also selected by the Denver Business Journal for inclusion in its Top Women in Energy 2018 award.
Torres Bruner has been practicing law for more than 15 years. She has extensive national and international experience handling litigation and regulatory and transactional matters for energy clients. She has litigated cases involving energy, oil and gas, environmental and natural resources, air quality, water quality, negligence, product liability, torts, and appellate matters.
“Ghislaine has one of the sharpest legal minds in the energy field and we congratulate her on this latest recognition of her dedication to serving clients,” said Stacy Carpenter, Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation Practice Chair who also practices out of the firm’s Denver office. “The honor is well deserved and reflects those individuals who are staying abreast of a rapidly changing environment in oil and gas exploration and an evolving energy sector overall.”
Since 2016, Torres Bruner has served as vice chair for various committees of the American Bar Association’s Section for Energy, Environment and Resources. She has been an active member of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association serving on the Local Regulatory Committee, Legal, Legislative and Committee and Environmental Health and Safety committees.
“A large part of my role is assisting clients in earning and maintaining a social license to operate using negotiation and litigation,” Torres Bruner said. “I am fortunate to be in a position to share my education and experience in the domestic and international environmental and public health sectors to help clients pursue their goals of extracting natural resources wisely while preserving natural resources for future generations.”
In addition to her legal career and industry involvement, Torres Bruner has served on the Board of Colorado Ballet’s Auxiliary in various capacities for more than eight years, and has previously participated as a volunteer in Colorado Scouting. She frequently volunteers by teaching public speaking to middle schoolers. She is a member of Colorado Hispanic Bar Association and Women’s Energy Network - Denver, Colorado Chapter.
“Ghislaine's dedication to her industry is a great benefit to our clients,” said Jennifer Evans, office managing partner for Polsinelli in Denver. “She is consistently named as a leader in her field and we are proud of this latest recognition and congratulate the other distinguished honorees.”
Torres Bruner earned her J.D. from Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University and Master of Laws degree with concentrations in Oil and Gas and Mining from Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver, Environmental and Natural Resources Law and Policy program.
