National law firm Polsinelli congratulates three of its St. Louis attorneys who were recently named as “Up and Coming” by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. Shareholder Ryan McCarty and Associates Cecelia Carroll and Britton St. Onge will be honored at an Oct. 12 luncheon. The award celebrates outstanding early-career lawyers who demonstrate professional excellence while making a positive impact on their profession and communities.
“Cultivating and mentoring talent is a top priority for our firm,” said Jane Arnold, managing partner of Polsinelli’s St. Louis office. “The professional success each of these young attorneys has achieved is commendable. I congratulate Ryan, Cecelia and Britton on this tremendous honor and look forward to witnessing their future contributions to the field of law.”
A former Division One college athlete and NCAA Athlete of the Week, Ryan McCarty thrived on competition from an early age. As a shareholder within the firm’s national Litigation Department, his practice is rooted in the prosecution and defense of general commercial disputes. He represents both regional and national businesses in a wide range of matters from credit or lending-related litigation involving financial institutions to business divorce, shareholder disputes, and commercial sales litigation. With a background in biology, McCarty has also excelled in the defense of cases involving medical issues and science.
McCarty is dedicated to giving back to the St. Louis community, specifically assisting organizations focused on the outdoors and the environment. He is an officer and board member for the Gateway Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and is a board member for the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance.
Associates Cecelia Carroll and Britton St. Onge will be honored for their pro bono work for the Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel (MCRC), a new, public-private partnership between the public defender’s office and private law firms. Carroll and St. Onge, who respectively focus their practices primarily on products liability litigation and commercial litigation, became involved with the MCRC in 2017.
Their work with MCRC offered an exclusive and challenging opportunity for professional development, while making a meaningful impact on each of their clients’ futures. As civil litigators focused on corporate clients, Carroll and St. Onge don’t often have the opportunity to help individuals and most of their cases do not go to trial. Most importantly, their involvement with MCRC provided a solution to alleviate a backlogged public-defender system which has been highly scrutinized. This work highlights how attorneys can make a real impact in their communities through pro bono efforts.
