Chase Simmons and John Petersen named among those influencing business coast to coast
Two of Polsinelli’s top real estate attorneys were named this week among the nation’s top attorneys influencing business. Produced by The Business Journals, The Influencers: Law list spotlights 100 attorneys who are having an impact on business and legal matters in communities across the nation.
F. Chase Simmons will succeed Russ Welsh in January as CEO of the firm, which now has offices in 21 cities and more than 850 attorneys coast to coast. Simmons joined Polsinelli in 1997 and went on to specialize in real estate and development law, playing a key role in the construction of the firm’s own office in Kansas City. Previously, Simmons led the firm’s national Real Estate and Real Estate Equity practice groups.
John Petersen’s familiar presence across the Kansas City area earned him a spot on the list. He is frequently tasked with winning incentives and other approvals for challenging, transformative developments. Twenty years ago, that meant working to bring Sprint’s Overland Park campus to the finish line, according to the Kansas City Business Journal. More recently, it’s been the planned $1.8 billion Brookridge mixed-use redevelopment. Petersen’s work extends nationally and his leadership role within the firm’s Real Estate and Financial Services department has helped the firm expand.
Today, more than 165 attorneys comprise Polsinelli’s national Real Estate team providing practical solutions to clients in the retail, health care, residential and multi-family housing, resort and hospitality, senior living and long-term care, and industrial real estate sectors. Some of Polsinelli's recent Real Estate practice rankings include:
- Designated nationally as Recognized Practitioners by Chambers USA, 2018.
- National Tier One ranking by U.S. News and World Report’s 2018.
- Top 10 Real Estate Practice Groups by Real Estate Law360 in 2014.
“Seeing these two top members of our Real Estate team recognized underscores our firm’s longstanding impact to the communities in which we live, and our reinvigorated focus of providing excellent client service and quality outcomes to our clients,” said Polsinelli’s Real Estate practice Chair Amy Hansen, who practices out of the firm’s Denver office. “And as our Real Estate team continues to grow and evolve across the country, seeing the diversity among our leadership is something we are all proud of.”
Upon last year’s election of Simmons to serve as the firm’s next chairman, the firm announced leadership changes within its Real Estate and Financial Services department: Kraig M. Kohring became the new chair of the overall Real Estate and Financial Services department; Eric Greenfield, a Chicago-based shareholder, joined Petersen as co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate division, while Hansen was named chair of the Real Estate practice group.
Polsinelli is an Am Law 100 firm with more than 850 attorneys in 21 cities. Ranked #24 for Client Service Excellence1 and #10 for best client relationships2 among 650 U.S. law firms, Polsinelli is also named among the top 30 best-known firms in the nation3 for the second consecutive year. The firm’s attorneys provide value through practical legal counsel infused with business insight, and focus on health care, financial services, real estate, intellectual property, mid-market corporate, labor and employment, and business litigation. www.polsinelli.com
