Kozlowski brings a decade of experience providing counsel to health care systems
Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli welcomes new Counsel Catherine (Cat) Kozlowski to its national Health Care Litigation and Disputes Practice and growing Los Angeles office.
A health care litigator with more than a decade of experience, Kozlowski’s practice focuses on issues related to the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act, state fraud and abuse laws, HIPAA and state privacy laws, and practical requirements for interfacing the medical staff with hospital operations.
Kozlowski works with modern health systems to develop innovative methods to navigate challenges and roadblocks before they become costly problems. She previously managed the due diligence process for the combination of two multi-billion-dollar health systems.
“During a time when our healthcare industry is changing more than ever, we are pleased to have Catherine’s strategic thinking and problem solving capabilities on our team,” said Polsinelli Health Care and Disputes Litigation Practice Chair Mary Clare Bonaccorsi. “Catherine provides practical legal advice in the constantly-evolving healthcare industry, and we are glad to add her to our growing national team of health care attorneys who are working with their clients every day to solve some of the most complex problems.”
Kozlowski gained experience at varying sizes of law practices and with diverse clientele. She serves as a current member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association as well as the Orange County Asian American Bar Association. Other memberships include LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles, Orange County Lavender Bar Association and CA Derby Dolls (501(c)(3) non-profit).
“The opportunity to join an Am Law 100 firm like Polsinelli is a great chance for me to hone my skills, and I am eager to get started,” said Kozlowski. “Polsinelli’s nationwide reach and excellent client service are what I am looking for at this stage in my legal career.”
Kozlowski earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in Mathematics from Chapman University, and continued her education there to obtain her J.D., summa cum laude, from Chapman’s Fowler School of Law.
Polsinelli’s Health Care Department represents one of the largest concentrations of health care attorneys and professionals in the nation. The Department received a Tier 1 ranking in Health Care Law by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Law Firms” for the past seven years, and, since 2013, has been ranked in the Top 10 largest firms in the nation by Modern Healthcare.
Kozlowski’s addition continues the growth momentum for Polsinelli’s Los Angeles office, which has added six attorneys so far this year, including Alex Polishuk and Keia James Atkinson in February, and September Rea, Jesse Nichols, Lindsay Ryan and Bryan Wasser in January.
