Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has tripled its national Construction Practice, adding six new attorneys so far this year. The firm welcomes three Denver-based Shareholders, Steve Gurr, Adam Lewis and Cindy Lowery-Graber; Kansas City, Mo. Counsel Chad Stoker; and New York City Shareholder duo Jason S. Samuels and Aaron E. Zerykier.
Polsinelli’s national Construction Practice partners with clients throughout the entire lifecycle of a project, from inception—drafting and negotiating design and construction contracts—through completion. The firm’s real estate development, health care and corporate clients continue to experience exponential growth across the country. Polsinelli’s intentional build-out of this target practice group is in response to that heightened demand. The firm’s construction team focuses on construction and design contracts, and construction-related litigation for real estate, health care and corporate clients, emphasizing owner, operator and developer representation.
“We are pleased to add these six established attorneys to our Construction Practice, creating increased depth and breadth of our team and answering the call for demand in this hot area of law,” said Real Estate and Construction Practice Chair Amy Kiefer Hansen. These attorneys each bring unique skillsets and notable experience to support our real estate development, health care and corporate clients throughout the entire development process. They are also bringing great value in other areas, including litigation, real estate, contracts and dispute resolution. Each shares a common goal of providing superior client service, and we’re glad to have them on our team.”
Samuels and Zerykier joined Polsinelli in late January, becoming the first Construction Practice attorneys located in the firm’s New York City office. They bring decades of combined construction law experience, with a concentration in dispute resolution and contract negotiations. They counsel clients on construction-related disputes through arbitration and in federal and state courts.
Stoker began his new chapter with the firm in early April, bringing deep background in construction law. He works with real estate developers, owners and tenants, providing strategic counsel related to design and construction delivery methods, negotiation of complex design and construction agreements and dispute resolution in a construction project setting. Stoker brings unique senior leadership experience in the defense industry that is relatable to business professionals and attorneys.
The trio of Gurr, Lewis and Lowery-Graber brings decades of combined experience in construction and real estate law and complex commercial litigation, for real estate, health care and corporate clients. They practice nationally, but have deep roots in the Colorado market, handling the growing demand in construction and real estate from Denver companies both locally and across the country. The Denver-based attorneys joined Polsinelli this month.
“Polsinelli’s robust national real estate and health care practices are a perfect fit for our clients,” said Gurr. “Cindy, Adam and I are thrilled to join the growing Denver office and national footprint. We are eager to support our clients with a full suite of services - real estate development, construction and finance.”
The six new construction attorneys are part of Polsinelli’s intentional growth in this key practice area. Polsinelli’s construction attorneys are focused on architecture/design and construction contracts; consensus and document forms; good manufacturing practice, cost-plus and fixed price contracts; purely design or construction, or design-build delivery systems; and consulting agreements for environment, engineering and more.
The new attorneys also intersect with Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation Practice, representing real estate development, construction and other commercial clients in a range of litigation and arbitration matters.
“Polsinelli’s litigation team looks forward to working alongside our new construction attorneys and are energized by the additional strengths they bring to our already deep bench of experienced litigators. Their approach is to let clients’ business goals drive the litigation strategy, which fits well with Polsinelli’s overall approach to business litigation,” said Stacy Carpenter, Shareholder and Commercial Litigation Practice Chair.
Polsinelli’s national team of Construction Practice attorneys deliver advice and guidance in a manner similar to managing the most complex construction projects—with clearly defined goals, strategic vision, a coordinated team approach. Polsinelli partners with clients throughout the entire lifecycle of a project, from inception—drafting and negotiating design and construction contracts—through completion and when necessary, dispute resolution. The firm is nationally ranked in Construction Law and Construction Litigation by U.S. News and World Report's "Best Law Firms" 2018.
