Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli welcomes seasoned litigator Stephen J. Kraftschik as Of Counsel to the firm’s Wilmington, Del. office. Kraftschik brings extensive experience in patent litigation as a member of Polsinelli’s national Commercial Litigation and Patent Litigation Practices.
With a particular focus on litigation in Delaware’s federal and state courts, Kraftschik assists clients in all phases of litigation, including fact discovery, motions practice, trials and appeal.
“Steve brings a unique combination of strong litigation experience at every stage of the litigation process, as well as a special focus on patent litigation with his technical background in electrical engineering,” said Commercial Litigation Co-Chair Stacy Carpenter. “We’re pleased to have Steve join our growing national Commercial Litigation Practice and further strengthen and expand our capabilities in Wilmington.”
Kraftschik’s experience within intellectual property litigation includes matters involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright issues. He has extensive experience representing clients in patent litigation in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, the busiest patent litigation court in the U.S. recently. Kraftschik has valuable technical experience as an electrical engineer. He designed circuits and embedded software related to traffic control systems, and leverages that expertise in his legal practice.
“Polsinelli’s strong national reputation for its commercial and intellectual property litigation capabilities and deep, varied litigation specialties were attractive to me as I move my career forward,” said Kraftschik. “I look forward to working with Polsinelli’s impressive team of litigators across the country, and also collaborating with the firm’s team of IP and patent attorneys to help our clients solve their most complex issues.”
In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Kraftschik regularly devotes his time to pro bono cases, for example representing petitioners seeking Protection From Abuse (PFA) Orders in Delaware Family Court. He has helped many victims of abuse successfully obtain PFA orders, both through trial and mediation. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association (Delaware Chapter), American Bar Association and Delaware State Bar Association.
Kraftschik earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University, Schreyer Honors College prior to completing his J.D. from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law.
