Polsinelli Expands California Health Care Footprint with the Addition of Two Health Care Lawyers

Polsinelli announced today the addition of two shareholders to its Los Angeles office, bolstering its national health care practice.

Jonathon E. Cohn and Paul A. Gomez bring decades of experience and deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the health care industry. The addition of Cohn and Gomez complement 39 other attorneys who have joined Polsinelli’s California offices over the past two years.

“The health care industry is changing at an unprecedented rate and in fundamental ways,” said Polsinelli’s Health Care Practice Group Chair Matt Murer. “California is home to a diverse health care community with leaders that impact the landscape across the state, nationally and internationally. With the full strength of our 185-member health care platform behind us, our clients have access to a complete range of legal services that enable them to better navigate challenges found within their heavily-regulated business climate. Both Paul and Jon’s move to our firm reflects our commitment to serving clients where they are across the country.”

Polsinelli has been recognized as a leader in health care law. Since 2010, Polsinelli’s overall attorney count is up about 75 percent and today has approximately 800 attorneys across 20 offices coast to coast. Polsinelli Chairman Russ Welsh said, “health care is a key practice for our firm and Jon and Paul will help meet the needs of our clients in California.”

Cohn works alongside health care providers to defend against reimbursement and compliance claims. He focuses his practice on regulatory issues affecting acute and long term care providers. Gomez focuses his transactional and regulatory practice on complex hospital/physician integration models. He has extensive experience working with physician practice acquisitions and consolidations, license-exempt medical foundation clinics, private equity investments and MSO arrangements, and transactions involving behavioral health, post-acute care, dialysis, ambulatory surgery and other healthcare providers.

“Polsinelli, with our full-service and dynamic national platform, has an ability to consistently attract standout attorneys to its offices across the country, including its growing Los Angeles office,” said Noel Cohen, managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. “Jon and Paul are significant additions to our already strong health care practice in California and to our ability to advise clients on the full life cycle of issues confronting businesses across the United States.”
