Polsinelli welcomes highly recognized and experienced commercial litigation attorney Dan E. Cranshaw as a shareholder and member of its strong national team of skilled litigators. Cranshaw has represented corporate and individual clients in a wide range of complex commercial disputes, including contract claims, premises liability and personal injury, construction and regulatory matters, business torts and insurance disputes.

“We’re extremely pleased to have an attorney of Dan’s caliber join us. His depth of experience in all types of commercial litigation will complement our litigation capabilities here and throughout the firm and will be of great value to our clients,” said Business Litigation Division Chair Russell S. Jones Jr. “Cranshaw is particularly adept at successfully managing risk and minimizing the impact of complex legal disputes on his client’s business.”

Cranshaw has considerable experience defending toxic tort litigation and class actions, especially those related to odor nuisance. He has been involved in class actions in state and federal courts throughout the United States and has successfully dealt with all aspects of class-action litigation, including precertification dismissals and summary judgments, class discovery, class certification and de-certification and claims administration.

In addition to his litigation experience, Cranshaw is well-versed in the development and execution of discovery motion strategies and strategic case management techniques. He also has successfully resolved claims for individual and corporate clients through alternative dispute resolution, including a favorable settlement of a significant breach of contract dispute.

“Polsinelli offers me an outstanding opportunity and a national platform to further develop my own practice while working with many of the most highly respected attorneys in the business,” Cranshaw said. “Polsinelli’s culture is also a good fit for me. The firm embraces, as I do, an appreciation of entrepreneurship, a strong marketing platform, high accountability standards and a belief in commitment to the community you serve.”

The addition of Cranshaw occurs during an exciting period of overall growth for Polsinelli, which has seen its national footprint expand to nine states and 16 cities. The firm was listed by Inc. Magazine in 2012 as the fastest-growing, full service law firm in America.

Cranshaw earned his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2003. He holds an A.B. degree in philosophy from Princeton University in 1991. Following his graduation from Princeton, Cranshaw served two years as press secretary to the late Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.

Cranshaw is a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society and the American Bar, Jackson County Bar and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations. He is currently on the advisory board of The Salvation Army of Kansas City, and the boards of Swope Community Enterprises, Swope Health Services and the KCMO CDE Community Capital Fund. Prior to joining Polsinelli, Cranshaw served on the board of directors of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and as a former chair of the board of Don Bosco Community Centers, Inc.

When not practicing law, Cranshaw has been actively involved as a volunteer with the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and Literacy Kansas City and served on the executive committee of the Deerfield Academy Alumni Association.

For the past three years, Cranshaw was selected for inclusion in Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers “Rising Stars.”
