Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli announces its first-ever “Women in Intellectual Property” series, a year-long initiative to empower a network of women in the IP industry. Women in IP will kick-off with a networking event in Chicago on June 5, 2019.
”More and more women are entering the field of IP law, and especially patent law, which has historically not been as diverse a sector. We are really pleased with Polsinelli’s support for and encouragement of women within this important segment,” said Polsinelli Shareholder and Vice Chair of the Biotech/Life Science Patent Prosecution practice Tara Nealey. “Our goal for this series is to bring women in IP law together in an informal, supportive environment to create lasting connections, foster professional development and develop meaningful relationships.”
Polsinelli’s first Women in IP initiative will feature a casual, networking-style event at the Little Goat Diner in Chicago, a restaurant whose owner is the first female Iron Chef winner, Stephanie Izard. The firm will host additional events in 2019 in Denver and San Francisco.
“It is important to our firm that we embrace and celebrate diversity in IP, and promote this area of law in a way that is inclusive for women,” said Polsinelli Intellectual Department Chair Patrick Woolley. “Ideally, we will create a supportive network of female attorneys through the Women in IP initiative, and hope more women will consider a career in Intellectual Property law.”
Polsinelli’s Intellectual Property Department is a cross-functional group of attorneys organized to service clients’ IP needs in a variety of industries. The firm has one of the largest IP practices in the nation, with a deep bench of attorneys, patent agents, scientists and other professionals. Polsinelli’s IP Department earned national recognition by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Law Firms” for Patent Law, Trademark Law, Litigation – Intellectual Property and Litigation – Patent in 2019. The firm also ranked among the top 20% of patent prosecution firms based on the total number of U.S. utility patents that issued in 2018 by The Harrity Analytics Team’s Top Patent Firms 2018 report.
