Polsinelli announced that it was been recognized by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce (CWCC) as a 2019 Champions of Change winner in the “Corporate Change Maker,” category. The award recognizes businesses that actively and strategically advance women in business.
“While more women than ever are becoming attorneys, as of the last census just one in three lawyers were female,” said Jennifer Evans, office managing partner and shareholder at Polsinelli. “We actively try to make Polsinelli a great place for everyone but especially for the talented women who are closing the gender gap.”
CWCC evaluated nominees for the Champions of Change Award on demonstrating a strategic imperative to advance women within the business to leadership positions, including a focus on recruitment, pipeline advancement and creating an inclusive workplace; ensuring employees are being paid based on performance, skill, or education to ensure no gender gap exists, and, on innovative and out of the box thinking to recruit and retain top talent.
Polsinelli has increasingly become a place for the advancement of female attorneys. The Denver office currently includes 36 female attorneys, 18 of whom are shareholders/partners. Of those 12, three are the national chairs of their practices for Polsinelli across its 21 offices and each is a recognized community leader and champion of women in business. In addition, Evans was the first woman named office managing partner of Polsinelli in Denver.
At the firmwide level, Polsinelli has been recognized many times as a Gold Standard firm by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for incorporating women into the highest levels of firm leadership. Law firms with 300 or more practicing lawyers in the United States are eligible for Gold Standard Certification if they successfully demonstrate that women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, and of their most highly compensated partners.
Polsinelli is an Am Law 100 firm with 900 attorneys in 21 offices nationwide. Recognized by legal research firm BTI Consulting as one of the top firms for excellent client service and client relationships, the firm’s attorneys provide value through practical legal counsel infused with business insight, and focus on health care, financial services, real estate, intellectual property, middle-market corporate, labor and employment and business litigation.
