Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli is pleased to announce the appointment of Gabriel Yomi Dabiri as the new Office Managing Partner for the firm’s New York office.
Dabiri is a dual-qualified attorney admitted to practice law in New York and in England and Wales. He has extensive experience advising clients on sophisticated finance transactions, including matters involving private credit, private equity, cross-border finance, venture debt, debt restructurings and bankruptcies. He is recognized as a thoughtful leader who is highly regarded by colleagues and clients alike.
“Gabriel is a skilled attorney with an innate ability to handle complex details while never losing sight of an overarching vision,” said Polsinelli Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chase Simmons. “Additionally, his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, contributions to our positive workplace culture and commitment to building upon Polsinelli’s diversity efforts have been and will continue to be a great benefit to our New York team and our clients.”
The Office Managing Partner role is filled by leading attorneys in Polsinelli’s 21 office locations across the country. Dabiri’s new responsibilities will include day-to-day management of the New York office, with a focus on implementing the firm’s flexible return to work policy; promoting a close-knit, collaborative workplace culture; and ensuring that the diversity of the office, at all levels, reflects the rich diversity of the community that it serves.
“I want more in New York to learn what many other markets have already come to know about Polsinelli,” Dabiri said. “We are a premium firm, with incredibly talented, responsive and thoughtful attorneys and staff members who support our clients, and one another, in a way that is fundamentally different from what many imagine when they think of BigLaw.”
Dabiri will help establish the office’s goals and strategic plans. He fills the role that has to date been held by Dan Flanigan, who remains with the firm.
“I am in the enviable position of taking over from Dan,” said Dabiri. “He has done a remarkable job building the New York office into what it is today.”
Dabiri was born to Nigerian parents and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Cardiff Law School in Wales and the University of Law, Moorgate in England, and began his practice at a Magic Circle firm in London.
Dabiri has been recognized as an Empire State Counsel® Honoree by the New York State Bar Association, as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine, and by the National Black Lawyers – Top 100 for “exemplifying superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence and performance.” Dabiri is also a faculty member of the Black BigLaw Pipeline, a non-profit comprised of senior Black attorneys established to promote positive outcomes for Black attorneys working in large law firms; and is on the Board and the Finance Committee of the Women First International Fund, an international nonprofit that provides micro financing to women-led grassroots projects that advance the rights of women and girls.
