Jennifer Evans, a shareholder in the Health Care practice at Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli and office managing partner in Denver, has been selected by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce for its 2020 Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business honors. The eighth annual honor recognizes and celebrates women who operate at the highest level of business performance and community leadership.
"The Colorado Women's Chamber couldn't be more pleased with the women selected as this year's Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business!” said Kristen Blessman, CEO and president of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. “These women stand as representatives of the many high-caliber, impact-driven women in business here in metro-Denver. We couldn't be prouder of their collective accomplishments and influence on this community."
As a Health Care attorney, Evans specializes in fraud and abuse, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues and regulatory compliance matters. She has dedicated her career to making a positive impact on Colorado’s health care system and fostering excellence in the state’s legal and health care communities.
Evans’ contributions at Polsinelli have helped the firm earn recognition such as Tier 1 status for the Health Care practice in the 2020 “Best Law Firms” list by U.S. News & World Report. The inclusion follows two designations as the publication’s “Law Firm of the Year” for the practice. U.S. News & World Report recognizes just one law firm in each practice area to earn the prestigious “Law Firm of the Year” designation, highlighting that firm’s impressive overall performance.
In addition to playing a leadership role in the firm’s Health Care practice and overseeing managing operations in Denver, Evans has shepherded the firm’s rapid, strategic growth to become the sixth largest firm in Colorado. As the first female attorney named as office managing partner for Polsinelli in Denver, Evans has served on the Polsinelli board of directors and currently sits on the firm’s Finance and Compensation Committees.
Evans was selected by Colorado Governor Elect Polis to serve on the Boldly Forward transition committee in the area of health care. She has also served on the National Governors' Association Center for Best Practices working group on Health Information Technology and Exchange, and has experience representing nonprofit and for profit health care organizations before Congress and CMS. She also is a former legislative assistant for health care and legislative director in the U.S. Senate.
Evans sits on the board for American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) and has served on the planning committee for its annual conference on Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursement. Evans was selected for inclusion in the AHLA Pro Bono Champions class in 2012. She serves on the editorial board for Health Care Compliance Association Magazine
Prior to leading the firm’s Denver office for Polsinelli, Evans was deputy director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), the single state agency responsible for administering Medicaid and the Child Health Plan Plus programs. At HCPF, she served as office director for administration and operations with responsibility for audit, procurement, program integrity, coordination of benefits, privacy, provider enrollment, claims payment, operations, and information technology, including health information technology.
Evans has been honored with board and leadership positions at a variety of other renowned organizations including the Denver Public Schools Foundation Board, The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Go Red For Women. She has also dedicated hundreds of pro bono hours for Rocky Mountain Cares, an HIV/AIDS advocacy group whose mission is to ensure everyone living with HIV/AIDs has access to the most appropriate and adequate care available.
Evans was selected by Law Week Colorado as a 2018 Lawyer of the Year and on the publication’s Barrister’s Best list in 2016, 2018 and 2019. She was recognized by the Denver Business Journal as an Outstanding Woman in Business in 2016. Under her leadership, the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce selected Polsinelli as a 2019 Champions of Change winner in the “Corporate Change Maker,” category.
